Action Alert – Now is the time to protect health care

Because of the Affordable Care Act, tens of thousands of Nebraskans are among the millions of Americans who can now get quality, affordable health insurance. But Congress already is taking steps to end those life-saving protections with no replacement plan in sight.

Will you call our Senators today? Tell Sen. Deb Fischer and Sen. Ben Sasse they can’t vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act without an immediate replacement plan that protects these life-changing improvements in health coverage.

Sen. Deb Fischer (402) 441-4600         Sen. Ben Sasse (402) 476-1400

For the first time ever, many Nebraskans can finally afford health insurance that covers prescription medicines and life-saving preventive care. But, Congress is discussing repealing the ACA without an immediate replacement, which could end these improvements to health coverage and drive up costs for millions of people.

Stand up for quality health care today! Call the local offices of Sen. Fischer and Sen. Sasse and tell their staff why these life-changing improvements in health coverage are important to you.

Remind Senators of the health care protections Nebraskans value:

  • More than 84,000 Nebraskans bought coverage through the Marketplace last year.
  • People with pre-existing conditions can get covered
  • Women are charged the same amount for insurance as men
  • Young Nebraskans can stay on their parents’ plans until age 26

Repealing the ACA with no replacement plan would send our health insurance market into a tailspin, and force millions of Americans to lose their insurance.

Congress must improve the affordability and quality of coverage and build on these protections, not tear them down. All Nebraskans must be able to get good, affordable health insurance.

Please call our Senators today and tell them not to vote to repeal the ACA without putting an immediate replacement plan in place.

Our son, coming back to Nebraska from graduate school in the East, was unable to get full-time work in his profession. The ACA provided him the ability to get coverage under our insurance first until he turned 26, and then he was able to get coverage in the ACA Exchange until he was able to find full-time work in the state. This kept him in Nebraska as opposed to having to leave the state for a job elsewhere that provided employer coverage. Keeping young professionals in our state has been a stated goal of our state and federal legislators!

Do NOT repeal a program that is working for 20 million Americans before presenting a replacement, with time for public vetting and feedback! A failure to do so will cause social and economic chaos for the nation, as well as loss of health and even life for too many individuals!!
