You’re Invited: Our Voices, Our Why: Building Pathways to Stability – Part 2

You’re invited to join Nebraska Appleseed for Our Voices, Our Why: Building Pathways to Stability – Part 2, an afternoon centered on listening to and learning from young people with lived experience in Nebraska’s child welfare and juvenile justice systems.

📅 Saturday, August 8, 2026
🕐 1:00 – 3:30 PM
📍 Eiseley Branch Library
1530 Superior Street – Lincoln, NE

This youth-led event creates space for young people to share their experiences, discuss what it means to truly belong, and explore how access to essential documents impacts successful transitions into adulthood.

Following a youth panel, we’ll move into café-style community conversations, where youth, professionals, advocates, families, and community members will sit together to discuss practical solutions for improving access to:

  • Housing
  • Health Care
  • Food Access

Together, we’ll explore how barriers to obtaining vital documents—such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, state IDs, medical records, educational records, and other essential paperwork—can impact stability and opportunity for young people leaving systems of care.

We’ll also hear brief community spotlights from Nebraska Appleseed’s Housing, Food Access, and Health Care teams about the work happening across Nebraska to improve these systems.

Whether you work directly with youth, have lived experience, are a policymaker, service provider, student, advocate, or simply care about creating stronger communities, your voice and perspective are welcome.

🥤 Light refreshments will be provided.

Registration is encouraged but not required.

We hope you’ll join us as we listen, learn, and work together toward building communities where every young person has the documents, resources, and support they need to thrive.

Please feel free to share this invitation with your networks!

We hope to see you there!
