Kids and families can find free summer meals through text service once again
Schools are closed but meal service continues across Nebraska
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) will continue to provide FREE meals for children ages 1 to 18 during the months when school is out this year. Nebraska school districts, nonprofit organizations, libraries, tribal organizations, and others will be distributing these free meals through grab and go, drive-through, or delivery options in communities across Nebraska. This is great news for Nebraska kids!
The No Kid Hungry campaign has made it easy to find a location near you through their texting service locator. Nationwide, individuals can text FOOD or COMIDA to 877877 to find a meal service location near them. The texting service is being updated regularly and is active nationwide.
While we’re all looking forward to gathering in person, extensions of nationwide food service waivers allow programs to continue remote meal service even as the COVID-19 situation is uncertain. Spread the word and encourage friends and neighbors to participate! All are welcome!
