Take Action – Don’t let Congress tear down the health care system

This week, Congress took another step down a path that will endanger the health insurance of hundreds of thousands of Nebraskans. In the early hours of Thursday morning, the U.S. Senate cast its first vote in the process to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which has dramatically improved the quality of health insurance in America.

But it’s not too late to save quality health coverage! We’re asking you to make calls today to fight for all Nebraskans to have the right to good, affordable health insurance.

Both Sen. Deb Fischer and Sen. Ben Sasse cast votes to start removing protections like ensuring you can still get health coverage even if you have a preexisting condition or allowing young Nebraskans to be covered under their parents plans until age 26.

Call their local offices today and tell them you’re disappointed in their vote to start the process to repeal the ACA with no immediate replacement plan in place that offers the same level of coverage and consumer protections. Tell them they should not repeal and delay.

Sen. Deb Fischer (402) 441-4600     Sen. Ben Sasse (402) 476-1400

When you’re done, call your U.S. Representative and tell them they must not vote to repeal the ACA without a replacement plan in place. Tell them how the ACA protections have helped you or someone you know.

Thousands of Nebraskans – people like Matt – now benefit from life-saving protections like:

  • Being able to get coverage despite having a preexisting condition.
  • Getting important preventive screenings at no out-of-pocket costs.
  • Expectant mothers covered for prenatal care
  • Affordable prescriptions.
  • Maintaining coverage even if they change jobs or get sick.

Please make the call today. Tell our Members of Congress they must build on these protections, not tear them down.

“Repeal and delay” would be a disaster for thousands of Nebraskans whose health insurance is at risk. All Nebraskans must be able to get and keep good, affordable health coverage.
