Call to action

TAKE ACTION: Tell the Senate – NO to more funding for ICE violence

After two killings in three weeks by federal ICE agents in Minneapolis, the U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote as early as this afternoon or sometime this week on a funding package with additional billions for ICE violence.

Calls and emails matter — especially right now.

Tell our Nebraska Senators Fischer and Ricketts: NO additional funding for out-of-control ICE violence, killing, and unconstitutional tactics of terror in communities:

Congress must:

  • Vote AGAINST any additional funding for ICE and CBP abuses through the appropriations process; and
  • Immediately take action to revoke the tens of billions already allocated through last summer’s big budget reconciliation bill.
  • From our friends at National Immigration Law Center, see this summary: What you need to know
  • Last summer, Congress already passed an unprecedented $170 billion, military-style budget that dramatically expanded ICE without meaningful oversight in the big budget reconciliation bill – and with tens of billions earmarked just for ICE and interior enforcement activity. With drastic increases in resources, news outlets are now reporting federal plans for mass detentions in warehouses. Experience shows that the majority of people being swept up are working moms, dads, and neighbors stuck in immigration limbo due to decades out-of-date immigration laws.
  • Last Friday, the House of Representatives passed a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which includes billions of additional dollars for agencies like ICE and CBP — without meaningful accountability or oversight reforms.

Nebraska’s members of Congress represent you, and they have power to control funding of these abuses – and power to move responsible and productive solutions that fix long-outdated immigration laws and create stability for Nebraska families, workforce, and communities.

Positive solutions are possible that match Nebraska values. Congress urgently needs to act.

Thank you for your action!
