Congress is about to make a choice: Protect the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or have more Americans go hungry. They need to hear from you to make the right decision!
The House Committee on Agriculture will meet soon to put pen to paper on policies that could massively cut SNAP for Nebraskans, all so Congress can give tax breaks to billionaires and fund the separation of local families and neighbors who are stuck in limbo because of long-outdated immigration laws.
Is this where we want our tax dollars spent? We must tell our members of Congress, including Congressman Bacon and Senator Fischer (both members of the House & Senate Agriculture Committees) that Nebraskans oppose these harmful budget reconciliation proposals!

SNAP is a lifeline for over 171,000 Nebraskans, including thousands of children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. The program not only helps families put food on the table but also generates economic activity – reinvesting millions of dollars in Nebraska grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and our local communities.
Potential SNAP cuts include:
- Reduce the SNAP benefit level now and in the future (currently at about $6 a day)
- Expand harsh and ineffective work requirements
- Change the structure of SNAP to limit the number of people who can receive benefits
Cutting food benefits hurts children, families and our communities. Please call our members of Congress to say NO to any budget that would cut health care, take food off the table and separate local families. Reach out using our call portal today to make your voice heard!
