Exactly one year ago today, Nebraska Appleseed launched a petition to convince Governor Pillen to reverse his decision on Summer EBT and accept the $18M in food benefits for Nebraska kids that came with it. Nine days later, we submitted 6,145 names and comments urging him to do the right thing!
It’s now one year later, and in part due to YOUR advocacy, Summer EBT was accepted, nearly $24M in benefits were distributed to nearly 200,000 Nebraska children, and a lot more families have the food they need to make it through the summer months when schools are closed.
By the way, the state has committed to Summer EBT for summer 2025!
