We were thrilled to see Governor Pillen announce today that Nebraska will be the 36th state opting into the Summer EBT program for summer 2024! This program will bring in $18 million in benefits to kids to help cover higher food costs families face during the summer months.
This win would not have been possible without the many advocates and allies who helped the Governor understand the importance of this program, including people receiving this email. We are incredibly grateful for Senators Day and Aguilar for being champions of Summer EBT legislation.
We also want to thank the 6,000+ Nebraskans who came together and signed our petition asking the Governor to rethink this issue in December. The strong support we showed from across the state helped put the pressure we needed to get this over the finish line!
This win is a testament to the power of the people and the value of community voices. Your efforts will help kids in our state have more to eat for the summers to come.
