TAKE ACTION: Worker bills up for consideration!

Support Nebraska Workers: Take 5 Minutes to Submit a Comment by FRIDAY Noon

Workers across Nebraska should have the dignity of a safe work environment, and the decency of adequate support should a workplace injury occur. Take 5 minutes to submit a public comment by noon on Friday to better support all Nebraskans in finding the healing and support they need if injured on the job, and enhance meatpacking worker safety through much-needed transparency. See quick steps below!

This Monday, January 31, is an important day for workers across the state, as the Nebraska Legislature (Business and Labor Committee) will discuss two important bills:

  • LB 719 ensures better support for Nebraskans injured on the job by updating Nebraska’s workers’ compensation rates, a worker’s right to choose their own doctor, and the availability of translation services in workers’ comp medical exams (bill introduced by Sen. Adam Morfeld). See this LB719 fact sheet.
  • LB 871 increases transparency in meatpacking plants by increasing the state’s meatpacking coordinator to full-time and clarifying data included in their annual report, as well as updating requirements for translating key employment information (bill introduced by Sen. Matt Hansen).
