Call to action

TAKE ACTION: Harsh SNAP Work Requirements are Bad for Nebraska

Everyone should have access to the food they need. But LB656 would make Nebraska’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) less effective and cut people off of food benefits.

Introduced by Senator Bob Andersen, LB656 would do two things

  1. Take away several of Nebraska’s options to provide SNAP food benefits to Nebraskans who need it, and
  2. Impose harsh work requirements as a condition for receiving SNAP.

Both policies would cut Nebraskans off from food benefits and increase hunger.

This Thursday, February 27 at 1:30 pm, LB656 is up for a hearing in front of the Health and Human Services Committee, and committee members need to hear from you!

Here’s how you can speak up (and we need you to):

  1. Come testify: If you’re able and interested, show up and share your testimony in opposition. Tips for Testifying can be found here.
  2. Comment online: The bill’s comment portal is open if you want to comment against this bill! Do it before 8:00 am Thursday.
  3. Email senators: Reach out directly to senators on the committee to share your opposition before Wednesday: bit.ly/HHSsenators
