Yesterday, Appleseed gathered with advocates from across the state to celebrate the launch of the Paid Sick Leave for Nebraskans ballot initiative campaign!
We’re working together to ensure that every Nebraska worker has access to essential paid sick leave — so no worker has to choose between taking care of themselves, a loved one, or their paycheck.
This ballot initiative will allow Nebraska voters to vote directly on the issue in the November 2024 election. But we must collect over 90,000 signatures across the state to put it on the ballot!
Here are several ways that you can help make this happen:
Circulate petitions
You can help collect signatures and ensure voters get a say in 2024! We have a lot of upcoming trainings and signature collection events in the community across the state.

Learn more about the policy
The policy would require Nebraska employers to provide workers one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. For employers with fewer than 20 employees, workers may earn up to five days of paid sick leave per year. At employers with 20 or more employees, workers may earn up to 7 days of paid sick leave annually.
Paid sick leave is for anyone who cares or needs care. Paid sick leave is for all of us.
