One of the goals of the health care law was to provide tax credits to small businesses to help ease the burden of health care costs. It’s working. According to a new survey, the number of small businesses with 10 employees or less that are offering health care coverage has increased by 15%.

Too many entrepreneurs have struggled to afford health care coverage for themselves or their employees. And sometimes the cost of health insurance — and the fear of going without coverage — has prevented people from starting their own businesses.

With over 60% of the businesses in Nebraska having 10 employees or less, the tax credit under the health reform law is good news for Nebraska’s businesses and our economy. Just one more way the health reform law is moving our state and our health care system forward.
