Action Alert – Small changes don’t fix BIG problems with health care bill

Today, the Senate released a revised version its health care bill, and it’s another verse in the same song for Nebraskans.

The changes to the bill, the “Better Care Reconciliation Act,” do nothing to enhance protections or affordability for Nebraskans’ health insurance. In several big ways, it’s even worse than the original version.

Nearly 1 in 10 Nebraskans could still lose their coverage, and the new version contains the same drastic cuts to Medicaid that would force many of our most vulnerable families – like Teresa’s – to go without the care they need.

We’re in the home stretch on this bill. So it’s important to act today!

Call Nebraska’s U.S. Senators and tell them they must vote “NO” on the Senate health care bill.

Sen. Deb Fischer (202) 224-6551     Sen. Ben Sasse (202) 224-4224

The BCRA not only raises insurance premiums for tens of thousands of Nebraskans who are older or have lower incomes, it could make it impossible for people who have preexisting conditions to get coverage. These are Nebraskans like Bryce, who survived a childhood transplant and now is a healthy adult.

The bill’s changes contain even deeper cuts to Medicaid, which will endanger the health coverage of the 1 in 8 Nebraskans – mostly children, seniors, and people with disabilities – who rely on it for life-saving medical care.

Please call both Senators today! Tell them to vote “NO” on the BCRA and work together with their Senate colleagues on a bill that will strengthen our health insurance system, preserve Medicaid, and keep important protections for people with preexisting conditions.

Every Nebraskan should be able to afford quality health insurance that covers the medical care they need when they need it.
