LINCOLN — Today a coalition of more than 20 business, health care, education, faith and community groups issued a joint statement in support of LB 472, introduced today by State Senator Kathy Campbell, that would close the coverage gap that currently leaves more than 54,000 working Nebraskans unable to get health insurance.
“LB 472 creates a Nebraska-specific plan that brings billions of our tax dollars back home to create jobs, reduce the cost of uncompensated care, and make health care make sense for all Nebraskans,” the group’s statement reads. “Closing the coverage gap is good for the well-being of our people, the productivity of our workforce, the long-term stability of our health care providers, and the strength of our economy. The bill gives our Governor flexibility to redesign Medicaid in a way that makes sense in Nebraska and works both for hospitals and the working people who need coverage.”
