Deliver flower baskets during recess week saying “Help Nebraska Flourish”
With Nebraska’s members of Congress back home during this week’s recess, a wide variety of Nebraska organizations are telling our U.S. senators and representatives now is the time for a modern immigration system that creates stability for families and businesses, includes a clear process for citizenship for aspiring Americans, and provides a strong foundation for our future.
This diverse collection of more than 40 Nebraska organizations, representing small businesses, faith, labor, immigrant, civic and civil rights groups, rural interests and cities, children and families, delivered flower baskets for immigration reform to the congressional delegation with the message “Help Nebraska Flourish.”
“There is strong Nebraska support for common-sense immigration laws from a wide variety of perspectives. We sincerely urge Nebraska’s federal leaders to help move our immigration system forward in a way that supports Nebraska’s families, communities, economy, and future,” said Darcy Tromanhauser, Director of Nebraska Appleseed’s Immigrants & Communities Program. “With the Senate moving its bipartisan immigration bill out of committee and the House preparing to introduce its bill, now is the time for a modern immigration system that creates a clear process for citizenship for aspiring Americans and a strong foundation for Nebraska’s future. We want Nebraska’s senators and congressmen to help make this happen.”
