Today, 33 senators voted to pass harmful legislation for our state via ❌ LB2.
LB2 cuts $40 MILLION from the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) budget, risking the sustainability of critical programs like SNAP and child care subsidies that help Nebraska families and workers make ends meet.
These cuts to DHHS’s budget are drastic and irresponsible and will significantly impact our state’s ability to serve communities throughout Nebraska. There are NO details behind these cuts and how they will impact our state’s most vulnerable children and families.
Nebraska needs to PROTECT our state’s children and families and not CUT them out of the system. We are extremely disappointed and concerned that the Legislature has chosen to sacrifice critical services that support Nebraska’s children and lowest-income folks to provide property tax relief to the wealthiest landowners in Nebraska.
During a time of ever-increasing costs, essential programs and services like SNAP and child care subsidies are becoming more critical every day. We will continue to monitor how LB2 is implemented and make sure you’re informed about the impacts this bill has on our state.
Thank you for making your voice heard and for standing up for our fellow Nebraskans!
