Last week, the House Agriculture Committee voted on their version of the Farm Bill proposal which includes a $30 billion cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, and adds barriers to accessing the nation’s most-essential food assistance program, which helps 1 in 11 Nebraskans afford the food they need.
We need your advocacy because the House Agriculture Committee’s proposal would:
- Cut SNAP benefits by $30 billion over the next 10 years – making it harder for people to pay for food,
- Allow private companies to manage SNAP eligibility and case management, which will reduce accountability and result in potential benefit losses, and
- End protections for people who have had their SNAP benefits stolen through skimming scams.
While the path forward for the Farm Bill remains uncertain, our members of Congress need to hear from you TODAY! SNAP must continue to be accessible and support Nebraskans struggling to keep food on the table. Email your House Representative and tell them this version of the Farm Bill is NOT good enough! We all deserve to eat, period.
Thank you for your advocacy!
