Speak up for housing rights

Evictions are still happening. Tell Lincoln City Leaders to ACT.

Speak up for housing rightsDespite various attempts at implementing state and federal eviction moratoria, evictions have never fully stopped in Lincoln. We at Collective Impact Lincoln believe our city leaders have the power and responsibility to enact a limited eviction moratorium to close the gaps left by federal and state protections.

Evictions are still happening. There are 29 hearings next week.

There are a couple of things you can do right now to advocate for our valuable community members who are at risk of eviction.

  • Speak Up: Write a message to city leaders. In the link below, we lay out three reasons why halting evictions is important, but we encourage you to share your own story or reasons, too.

Share your message

  • Stand Up: Testify in-person at the City Council meeting on Monday, January 25 at 5:30 p.m. CT to tell our leaders to enact a moratorium. The City Council meeting will be at 555 S. 10th St.

Please note: Public comment will be at the end of the meeting. We anticipate a lengthy meeting beforehand, so we don’t anticipate public comment starting before 7 p.m. CT. We acknowledge the risk imposed by this activity. If you aren’t comfortable participating in-person, you can still speak up and take action by writing a message.

Whatever action you decide to take, know that it makes a difference. The federal moratorium has been extended by President Biden, but it is not nearly enough. We need a full stop so our neighbors can stay home to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
