Today, Nebraska Appleseed Executive Director Rebecca Gould release the following statement about LB 943, which was heard Monday by the Legislature’s Business and Labor Committee.
“Hard work is a core value in Nebraska. Our state boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and one of the highest rates of parents participating in the workforce. But our economy has left too many hard-working Nebraskans behind, risking family stability. LB 943 is a critical piece of ensuring that hard work pays in Nebraska,” Gould said. “The bill would provide workers in minimum-wage jobs the ability to make a reasonable wage and support their families. Our minimum wage should allow people who work full-time to achieve a measure of stability. This bill is essential to reducing poverty among our working people and allow employees to achieve the upward mobility that has been lost to many with a changing economy.”
