Welcome Kait Madsen, Field Director!

Help us welcome Kait Madsen (she/her/hers) to the Appleseed Team! Kait is our new Field Director, managing and leading Nebraska Appleseed and the Nebraska Appleseed Action Fund’s ballot initiative and campaign field work to fight for a more just society.

Kait graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2021, where she was Senior Articles Editor of the Nebraska Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. She worked as a litigation attorney after law school with a focus on civil rights, labor and employment, and commercial litigation. Kait then clerked for the Honorable Robert F. Rossiter, United States District Court for the District of Nebraska.

Before law school, Kait worked as community organizer at Nebraska Appleseed from 2015 to 2018. In that role, she worked with Nebraskans impacted by health care access issues and served as a lead organizer for the Medicaid expansion ballot initiative.

“I’m thrilled to be back at Nebraska Appleseed! I’m looking forward to connecting (and reconnecting!) with incredible community leaders, partners, and advocates working to make Nebraska a more just and welcoming state for everyone.”

Kait loves spending time with her partner, children and dog, eating good food, and enjoying Omaha’s great local music scene.
