Welcome Lizzie Turner, CIL Community Organizer

Help us welcome the newest Appleseeder to the team, Lizzie Turner! Lizzie (she/her/hers) is a Community Organizer with Collective Impact Lincoln, a collaborative project aimed to create lasting meaningful, resident-led investment and positive change. Originally from Chicago, Lizzie was previously the Organizing & Advocacy Director for Chicago Area Peace Action. Last spring, Lizzie supported a group of student activists in planning a two-day Peace Summit. Through her guidance, the students executed the event from beginning to end. The theme was Organizing Towards Peace, Justice & Conflict resolution and featured speakers on Unarmed Civilian Protection Tactics, Strategic Campaign Design, Activism Through Pop Culture, and many more. Lizzie helped the students execute their vision and develop their skills as organizers and activists.

“I’m new to town, but it didn’t take me long to hear from my new neighbors about the incredible work that Appleseed does. I’m excited to be working with this incredible team to uplift justice for all Nebraskans and strengthen our bonds as people in community with each other.

Fun fact: Lizzie has three cats–Nova, Marley, and Nala–each with an incredibly unique personality. All of them love playing outside with Lizzie and her roommates! If you reside in the Belmont or Clinton neighborhoods, you might have already met Lizzie. If you haven’t yet, make sure to say hi and welcome her to Lincoln!
