Appleseed welcomes attorney Billie Gallagher

Appleseed attorney Billie Gallagher

Billie Gallagher’s first job as an attorney brings her back to her hometown, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her to the Appleseed team.

Billie, a Lincoln Southeast High School graduate, is our newest staff attorney in our Economic Justice program, where she will contribute her legal skills to pursue justice for all Nebraskans. She recently graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law and received her undergraduate degree from New York University.

“A desire to serve the public interest was what initially led me to attend law school, and Appleseed does exactly the kind of public interest work I’ve always hoped to do,” she said.

Billie will be working primarily with Appleseed’s involvement in Collective Impact Lincoln, a collaboration with other Lincoln organizations to speak with people in some of Lincoln’s lower-income neighborhoods about how they would like to improve their communities and empower them to take action.

From our first meeting with Billie, her passion for social justice was obvious, including gender equality and protecting voting rights. We are so excited to welcome her to our team and begin working together to fight for equity, opportunity, and justice for more Nebraskans.

“I firmly believe that all of us are stronger when we endeavor to lift each other up,” she said, “and that striving for equality for all is the first step toward creating broader positive change.”
