Last year you signed our petition encouraging Nebraska to adopt Pandemic-EBT (PEBT), a program that offers benefits to students participating in Free or Reduced Price meals who missed out on meals because of school closures. Today, we wanted to share some exciting news about the program.
Last week, DHHS released a press statement announcing PEBT adjustments for the months of August and September 2020 will be issued this week. These benefits will go to families that were not reported as eligible by their school district during those months and those having previously received an incorrect amount.
Families will receive a new PEBT card in the mail with these additional, adjusted benefits. Eligible families do not need to do anything to receive them.
We expect additional benefits to arrive following these adjustments. Please hold onto your cards for potential future disbursements.
Additionally, if you have not filled out a Free or Reduced Price Lunch application for the 2020-2021 school year, please reach out to your school to ask about the process for doing so. This will ensure that you receive the benefits for which you qualify if you are eligible.
We will keep you updated as things develop but feel free to reach out with questions if you have them.
