2021 Nebraska Legislative Session begins today!

Today is Day 1 of the 2021 legislative session. Nebraska senators will start the year by introducing new bills on a number of issues, including legislation to address the stark inequities within our systems that have been further exposed during the COVID-19 public health crisis.

Nebraska Appleseed Priorities for 2021

Together with you, we will be advocating for meaningful change to build a stronger, vibrant, and more inclusive Nebraska for all. Senators must act to:

  • Provide essential protections to Nebraskans working essential jobs, including requiring 6-foot distancing and paid sick leave.
  • Fight food insecurity so that our neighbors get consistent, nutritious meals and ensure that families are able to afford access to needed child care.
  • Strengthen our communities by ensuring everyone has access to adequate and affordable housing.
  • Expand services and supports provided through Nebraska’s successful Bridge to Independence program to youth involved in our state’s juvenile justice system.

These are just a few of the priorities Appleseed will be working on in 2021. We know this is ambitious, which is why sharing your support and concerns with your state senator will be more important than ever.
