October 1st, Appleseed was proud to welcome the newest member of our team when Eric Savaiano joined us as a Program Associate with our Health Care and Economic Justice programs.

Eric comes to us from Nashville, Tenn., where he previously worked at an educational nonprofit called the PENCIL Foundation as a Family Resource Center Director at a large, diverse, public high school.

He also has worked at AHRC of New York City, an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, as well as Learning for Life – the educational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America.

“I’m excited to work on issues that affect an entire state,” Eric said about joining Appleseed. “I’m also excited to work with idealistic and dedicated attorneys who have chosen to work in the nonprofit world.  I feel like I’m going to learn a lot and hopefully be able to help while I’m at it.”

Eric originally is from Wichita, Kan. His wife Mackenzie works as a professor of Special Education at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. They also have a 2½ year old daughter, Remy.
