Nebraska has long benefitted from the hard work and leadership of Nebraskans from all backgrounds. Ensuring more young Nebraskans have the opportunity to further their education means our communities will be able to receive contributions from young people who grew up calling Nebraska home.
There are a number of scholarship opportunities that are available to young Nebraskans regardless of their immigration status. Please see a list below and pass them on to young Nebraskans with college aspirations.
Remember, these scholarships are available each year, so if an application deadline already has passed, they can be applied for again next year!

December deadlines
- Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship For Young Hispanic Leaders
- Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship is for students who have at least one parent of Hispanic descent. This scholarship grants scholarships of $500 and $1000. For further information click here.
January deadlines
- Great Minds in STEM Scholarship
- HENNAC Scholarship is for students of Hispanic origin who are majoring in science, technology, engineering, or math. The award range for this scholarship is between $500-$10,000.
- Becas Univision Scholarships
- Becas Univision Scholarship is a scholarship for Latino students that reside in the United States. Univision is granting 34 scholarships each worth $5,000 to students who are in high school, transferring from community college, or current college students. For application click here.
- OCIYU Scholarship for Undocumented Students
- OCIYU scholarship is only for undocumented students attending college.
- Geneseo Migrant Center Scholarships
- The Geneseo Migrant Center offers a variety of scholarships to those who meet the requirements.
- Microsoft Office Scholarship Program
- The Microsoft Office Scholarship Program offers scholarships for computer science or STEM-related majors.
- Congressional Hispanic Caucus
- The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute offers scholarships plus internships to Latino students.
- ARC Immigrant Scholar Award
- Chiropractors of Accident Recovery Center offer scholarships for immigrant students.
- Southwestern Rugs Depot Why Decor Matters Scholarship
- To be eligible for this scholarship students must be enrolled full or part-time at an accredited university during the 2016 – 2017 school year. Any student is welcome to apply, regardless of major or focus.
February deadlines
- Susan T. Buffett Foundation (Nebraska)
- Susan Buffett Scholarship is a scholarship which covers tuition, books, and fees for five years of your higher education. This scholarship does not ask for immigration status, so anyone can apply.
- Chicano Organizing & Research in Education (CORE)
- CORE is awarding scholarships of $500 each to undocumented high school students who will enroll for the first time in an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
March deadlines
- True Potential Scholarship (Nebraska)
- The True Potential scholarship each year grants five full tuition and fees scholarships to DACA recipients. To apply click here.
- The Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation
- This undergraduate scholarship is for rising college juniors and seniors who are studying television and film production. The Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation awards renewable scholarships up to $3,500.
- Journalism and Broadcasting Scholarships for Latinos
- The National Association of Hispanic Journalists offers scholarships each years to undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing a career in journalism.
April deadlines

- The Davis-Putter Scholarship is for students who are active in movements for social and/or economic justice. This scholarship grants 30 awards ranging between $1,000- $10,000..
October deadline
- Scholarship America Dream Award will reopen in October 2016.
