Ruby Méndez López (she/her/hers) joined our Immigrants and Communities Program as a Community Organizer this summer! Ruby has collaborated with Nebraska Appleseed on numerous projects, including being a statewide leader for our Power of Participation Series and most recently as an artist advocate for the Meatpacking Workers coalition. Ruby brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles as a 2020 intern for Senator Tony Vargas, a bilingual campus guide at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and as the chair of the Nebraska Cultural Unity Conference.
“I’ve been working alongside Nebraska Appleseed since I was in high school. I knew then my values aligned with this organization and I am excited to be on staff and create opportunities for others to get involved, find their voices, and fight for justice for all Nebraskans.” – Ruby
Ruby enjoys working closely with Nebraskans to build community power and a democracy that creates real, social change, during the election cycle and beyond. Whether it’s registering to vote or contacting your representatives, you can reach out to Ruby for help at firstname.lastname@example.org.
