Nebraska Appleseed’s Molly McCleery Honored as Families USA’s Consumer Experience Health Advocate of the Year

Lincoln, Nebraska – On Tuesday, January 26, Molly McCleery, Director of the Health Care Access Program at Nebraska Appleseed, was recognized as Families USA’s Consumer Experience Health Advocate of the Year.

McCleery earned the award because of her exemplary work championing for better health and health care at Nebraska Appleseed, a nonprofit advocacy organization that fights for justice and opportunity for all Nebraskans. She engages in policy advocacy and litigation related to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act so all Nebraskans have access to high-quality and affordable health coverage.

“Molly is dedicated and committed to ensuring that Nebraska’s families are at the center of policymaking in the state,” said Lisa Hunter, Families USA senior director of strategic partnerships. “Because of her efforts, Nebraskans have a staunch health care advocate in their corner who wants to guarantee that the health care system works for them.”

“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” said McCleery. “I am fortunate to work daily with committed local and national partners to advance access to health care in Nebraska, including making sure that the 90,000 Nebraskans newly eligible for Medicaid expansion can enroll in coverage and get the services they need.”

Each year during its Health Action Conference, Families USA honors state and community leaders who are advancing social justice through health care advocacy. Awards represent the organization’s four focus areas: Health Equity, Health Care Value, Coverage, and Consumer Experience.
