Thanks to your hard work and support, Governor Ricketts announced last week that Nebraska will be bringing back SNAP Emergency Allotments! These benefits will become available to folks on SNAP who aren’t receiving the maximum allotment starting December 8th.
I am so thrilled to share this news, but, as we all know, we are far from solving hunger in our state. In the meantime, I am sharing resources available to you to access food in Nebraska listed below:
Nebraska’s Food Banks are available to help you.
The Food Bank for the Heartland and the Food Bank of Lincoln have a food distribution schedule and a local Food Finder available to help you find food support in your county.
The Food Bank of the Heartland, (402) 331-1213, offers services in 77 counties in the state. Check out their interactive map of pantries by using their “Find Food Locations” page below.
For food providers in Southeast Nebraska, use the Food Bank of Lincoln, (402) 466-8170, Food Finder resource below or see their food distribution monthly schedule here.
If you think you may qualify for SNAP, I encourage you to apply using the Food Banks’ SNAP Hotline to check your eligibility and get signed up.
I hope these resources provide some support for you, your families, and your neighbors. Please feel free to share these resources with anyone you know who could use this information.
