The safety and well-being of our communities is top priority.
We need compassionate policies that support Nebraska families and children.
As the number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are identified across our state and the nation, Nebraska Appleseed emphasizes the need for compassionate and comprehensive policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of our communities across our state.
We are only safe as a community if we take care of one another. Now more than ever, we need to work together to demand that our federal and state representatives adopt policies that protect Nebraskans with long-term solutions.
In Congress, House Bill H.R. 6201, Families First Coronavirus Response Act, focuses on supporting hardworking families in this state of emergency. The legislation includes:
- Free coronavirus testing for all, including the uninsured.
- Paid emergency leave.
- Food security assistance.
- Increased unemployment insurance.
- Increased federal Medicaid funding to support state Medicaid spending.
- Protections for health care workers.
Congress needs to act to support hardworking Nebraska families. Call your Representatives today and tell them to support the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

There are solutions. For more than two decades, we’ve heard from Nebraskans who are faced with difficult choices every single day. Being in the midst of a pandemic does not only change this uncertainty, it makes it more imperative that our Nebraksa leaders act to protect those in our community who need support. We need better policies that ensure every Nebraskan has access to quality, affordable health care, paid sick and family leave, and additional supportive services and programs.
Our government needs to put the safety and wellbeing of our communities first. If there ever was a time for you to raise your voice, it’s now.
