We are a state that values the health and well-being of our family members, friends, and neighbors. This is why nearly two years ago, Nebraskans voted to implement Medicaid expansion. However, the state is pursuing a complicated Section 1115 waiver program that includes numerous barriers, including tiered benefits, work requirements, and a waiver of retroactive eligibility.
LB815, introduced by Senator Adam Morfeld, would prohibit the Department of Health and Human Services from using a Section 1115 waiver to expand Medicaid. This bill would limit the Department from using plans that undermine the purpose of Medicaid expansion.
Take Action. Nebraska does not waiver.
On Thursday beginning at 1:30 pm in Room 1510, the Health and Human Services Committee will hear testimony on LB815 and we encourage you to voice your support.
To submit written testimony:
- Email the Health and Human Services Committee Chairperson Senator Sara Howard at email@example.com
- Include your full name and address.
- State why you support LB815 and that you would like your written testimony to be included as part of the public hearing record.
- Submit your testimony before Wednesday at 5 pm.
Nebraskans are waiting for lifesaving coverage while our state chooses to experiment with a Section 1115 waiver that imposes additional barriers and reduced benefits. Let our Legislature know that Nebraska does not waiver.
Thank you for your continued advocacy!
