Nebraska Appleseed Statement on House Health Care Bill
Potential cuts to care would harm tens of thousands of Nebraskans
LINCOLN — Monday, the House of Representatives introduced a bill to radically change the American health care system and would result in drastic cuts to the Medicaid program.
Nebraska Appleseed Health Care Director James Goddard issued this statement in response.
“The House’s bill could force tens of thousands of Nebraskans to lose life-saving health coverage and drive up costs for thousands more,” Goddard said. “This plan also represents the potential for significant long-term cuts to Medicaid, which provides vital coverage to Nebraska children, seniors, and people with disabilities, and it removes many of the important coverage protections that were improved by the ACA.
“It is readily clear that this plan makes it much harder for the Nebraskans who need it the most to get quality, affordable health insurance. We urge Nebraska’s Congressmen to oppose this plan and work to create a bill that allows every Nebraskan to have the high-quality coverage they need.”
