ACA helped young woman stay covered after discovering preexisting condition

Note: We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of Nebraskans who wanted to tell us how the health insurance protections of the Affordable Care Act have improved their lives. This is one of those stories.

I found out in the spring of 2014 that I have a blood clotting disorder. This means I qualify as having a pre-existing condition, and I have been hospitalized twice now due to complications with that disorder.

Without the coverage for pre-existing conditions provided through the ACA, I would have a lot of problems with getting health insurance coverage.

I’m also grateful to be able to be on my parents’ health insurance for the time being (I’m still under 26). Without their health insurance, I would be uninsured with a pre-existing condition which would be very difficult for me to manage.

I need both of these protections to be sure that I am covered by health insurance. Without the ACA, I don’t know what would happen.

Take Action!

Will you make a call today to protect affordable health coverage? Call Nebraska’s U.S. Senators today and tell them any ACA replacement bill must allow every Nebraskan to have health insurance, preserve Medicaid, and keep the protections that allow Nebraskans with preexisting conditions to afford quality coverage.
