Nebraska Appleseed recently welcomed new officers to serve on our Board of Directors. These individuals will be instrumental in leading our efforts to increase opportunity and justice for all Nebraskans during their three-year term.
New Board President Steve Achelpohl is a Director at Gross & Welch, P.C., L.L.O., of Omaha. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, American College of Trial Lawyers, and the Nebraska State Bar Foundation. He also previously has served as Chair of the Public Service Committee of the Omaha Bar Association.
Megan Wright practices litigation at Cline Williams Wright Johnson & Oldfather, L.L.P., of Omaha and has been a member of Appleseed’s Board of Directors since 2009. She is a graduate of Creighton University and the University of Iowa College of Law.
Matthew J. Johnson
Matthew is a former attorney with Kutak Rock and corporate counsel at Peter Kiewit and Sons, Kiewit Diversified, and Level 3. He is recently retired as an elementary school teacher from Omaha Public Schools.
Susan Gourley, PhD
Dr. Susan Gourley is the retired superintendent of Lincoln Public Schools, where she served from 2004-2010. During her tenure with LPS, she led an effort to pass a $250 million bond issue that has built and renovated schools in Lincoln. She and her husband, Barry, continue to be active in philanthropic work in Nebraska.

Patricia A. Zieg
Patricia Zieg is a partner with Stinson Leonard Street, a law firm with 14 offices throughout the United States, including Omaha. Patricia focuses on health care law and Indian law and has been recognized as a Great Plains Super Lawyer and a “Best in Omaha” attorney in the health care law category.
