Note: Each year, Nebraska Appleseed is fortunate to work with a number of bright, talented law clerks and interns. This is one of a series of posts that feature Appleseed’s clerks and interns discussing their backgrounds and experiences.
Name: Sarah Qasmi
Hometown: Brookings, South Dakota
About Me: “I’m a senior at Creighton majoring in medical anthropology and minoring in public health and health administration and policy. I was born and raised in Jackrabbit country (Hometown of Brookings is the location of South Dakota State University, whose mascot is the “Jackrabbit”). I have an obsession with dogs.”
Why Appleseed: “I really liked what Nebraska Appleseed stands for and wanted to get a feel of what it is like working in a nonprofit. Appleseed implements multiple ways to address an issue whether it is policy or grassroots advocacy. I wanted to see the behind-the-scenes action of how to create positive change in addition to how nonprofits actually work.”
Future Plans: “It is a bit hazy at the moment, but I would love to work at Partners in Health or any nonprofit that increases health care access to hard-to-reach international or domestic populations.”
