Call to action

Take Action Party on Monday: NO to billions more for ICE violence & detention

Have you made your calls to Nebraska’s members of Congress yet? This upcoming vote on billions of additional tax dollars allocated to ICE violence is a really important one:

Congress is expected to vote next week on a bill that goes around the normal budget process to give ICE and CBP (and the ballroom) an additional $72 billion. These funds would come on top of an unprecedented $170 billion allocated just last year to dramatically expand ICE and CBP operations, which has funded mass detentions and shocking violence against people, substantially destabilized communities, and harmed working moms, dads, and neighbors.

This unnecessary and rushed budget legislation comes after strong public opposition stopped additional dangerous dollars for ICE in the normal budget appropriations process. Communities across the country clearly communicated to Congress that the public does not want to see further funds for ICE violence and its unaccountable, unrestrained federal agents.

TAKE ACTION:

  • Call or email your members of Congress TODAY and over the weekend.

Let Nebraska’s members of Congress know you strongly oppose additional billions of our tax dollars for out-of-control ICE agents and a national plan for mass detention that is destabilizing communities and harming working moms, dads, and neighbors.

  • Join us during lunch on Monday for a virtual take action party!

Join us on Monday for a brief (virtual) take action party: Come together with friends to hear a brief summary of the funding being proposed and current ICE patterns and outcomes from the billions already passed last year. Then we’ll take action together!

    Monday, May 18, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm CT (11:00 am – 12:00 pm MT)

Thank you for reaching out to Congress and urging them to reject any additional money for ICE violence and mass detention that has made our communities less safe.
