At the Capitol: Important bills up for debate TODAY!

We’re in the final days of the 2026 Legislative Session!

Follow along: You can livestream all legislative happenings through Nebraska Public Media.

Last night, ✅ LB304 advanced to select file. This bill helps parents afford the child care they need by maintaining the child care subsidy’s income eligibility level, which is otherwise set to decrease later this year. If LB304 doesn’t pass this year, over 2,000 families will lose access to funding for child care.

See how your senator voted here.

  • If your senator voted YES on LB304, please thank them for supporting access to affordable child care in Nebraska.
  • If your senator voted NO on LB304, please ask them to support this critical bill when it’s up for final reading.

Two important bills are up for debate today – and we need you to make your voice heard!

✅ LB958 protects Medicaid retroactive coverage, which covers health care bills for low-income Medicaid enrollees for a certain time prior to their month of application if they would have been eligible for Medicaid at the time. This coverage is especially critical for those facing health crises and protects low-income Nebraskans from crippling medical debt and ensures that hospitals can keep their doors open.

✅ LB1032 recognizes tribal customary adoptions in Nebraska state law, ensuring Native children can maintain their connections to their families, tribes, communities, and culture, while still finding permanency out of care.

Thank you for your continued advocacy!
