On October 8, Nebraska Appleseed will gather to celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations who have stood up for justice and opportunity for all during the 2026 Good Apple Awards. We are proud to recognize this year’s honorees.
Roots of Justice Award recognizes grassroots advocates who have made outstanding contributions to justice and opportunity for all and have helped build a stronger community.
“Empowering Families is a phenomenal organization building powerful community belonging across neighbors of all backgrounds in Scottsbluff/Gering and the panhandle region of the state. Val, Maricia, and their team are visionaries who value and model peer learning and shared leadership, and who accomplish creative, transformative relationship-building and organizing in their region – as well as sharing insight and building shared community inclusion practices across the country.” – Darcy Tromanhauser, Program Director, Immigrants & Communities & Ruby Méndez López, Organizing Manager, Immigrants & Communities
