Call to action

ACTION ALERT: Support LB966 to get more kids free school meals!

All kids should have access to nutritious meals at school – regardless of their family’s income.

✅ LB966, the Hunger-Free Schools Act, would make more students eligible for free school meals by using state funds to pay for all “reduced-price” category meals. By making more breakfasts and lunches free, we can reduce stigma, improve learning outcomes, and support families struggling with rising costs.

A public hearing for this bill is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 PM in front of the Education Committee. You can attend the hearing in person, stream it online, or submit an online comment in support of LB966.

Past Hunger Free Schools Act bills were designed to make ALL school meals in Nebraska free. This bill is a step in the right direction and one that makes financial sense for our state now.

Thank you for standing up for our students!
