Nebraskans know how important health care is for our families and friends, but our access to health care is under attack. Two bills up for consideration in the Nebraska Legislature next week help protect Nebraskans’ access to health care after Congress passed historic cuts to Medicaid in their HR1 bill last summer.
TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT ACCESS TO CARE
✅ LB812, introduced by Senator Eliot Bostar, protects Nebraskans’ access to health care by requiring that our state does not implement Medicaid expansion work requirements required by HR1 early. It also prohibits Nebraska from verifying Medicaid expansion eligibility or work requirement compliance more frequently than needed. Take 5 minutes to submit a public comment by 8:00 am CT on Wednesday, February 4 to make sure low-income Nebraskans do not unnecessarily lose care and become uninsured.

✅ LB929, introduced by Senator John Fredrickson, protects Nebraskans’ access to care through Medicaid by prohibiting Nebraska DHHS from requiring Medicaid enrollees to pay copays that aren’t required by federal law, and by requiring Nebraska DHHS to set the new copays for Medicaid expansion enrollees required by HR1 at the lowest amount possible. Take 5 minutes to submit a public comment by 8:00 am CT on Thursday, February 5 to make sure health care stays affordable for low-income Nebraskans.

The strength of our state, health systems, and economy depend on the health of each Nebraskan. Let’s join together to take a stand against the harmful cuts passed by Congress last summer and stand in support of common sense policies that protect our fellow Nebraskans’ access to care. The time is now.
Thank you for your advocacy!
