Today, Appleseed gathered with advocates from across the state to celebrate the launch of the Respect Nebraska Voters ballot initiative campaign!
We’re working together to ensure that our state lawmakers respect the will of the people once voters have spoken at the ballot box.
This ballot initiative will allow Nebraska voters to vote directly on the issue in the November 2026 election. But we must collect over 130,000 signatures across the state to put it on the ballot!

Here are several ways that you can help make this happen:
Circulate petitions
You can help collect signatures and ensure voters get a say in 2026! We’ll have a lot of upcoming trainings and signature collection events in communities across the state.
>> Sign up to collect signatures
>> Lunch & Learn: Briefing & Training: We have an online training on Thursday, January 8 at 12:00pm CT where you can learn about the campaign and how to get involved!
>> Virtual petition training: Join us every week at 6:00pm CT for our virtual petition training.

Learn more about the policy
If a majority of Nebraska voters approve, the Respect Nebraska Voters ballot initiative will change the number of members of the Nebraska Legislature required to undo or change laws voters have passed from two-thirds of the Legislature to a four-fifths supermajority. It also protects our freedom to vote on important issues facing our communities by strengthening protections for the ballot initiative process itself, preventing politicians from passing laws that restrict the people’s ability to bring initiatives.
Thank you for being part of this effort to protect our freedom to vote on important issues facing Nebraskans!
