Great news: November SNAP Benefits are Loaded in Nebraska!

DHHS has reported that all delayed November SNAP benefits have been loaded onto EBT cards in Nebraska, putting an end to the chaos and uncertainty caused by the Trump Administration’s inaction and the government shutdown!

Partial payments were sent out Wednesday night (with up to 65% of full benefits) after a federal judge ordered the Trump Administration and USDA to make use of a SNAP contingency fund to pay a portion of benefits.

The government shutdown also ended Wednesday night, clearing the way for full benefits to be distributed today for 150,000 Nebraskans on SNAP.

Throughout this crisis, we’ve been amazed by the community support we’ve seen! Thank you for helping get neighbors the food they need in whatever way possible!

We also hope this is a reality check on the critical role SNAP plays in our communities. SNAP puts food on the table for 150,000 Nebraskans. It saves families from having to make the impossible choice between food or medicine, food or rent, or food for a parent or for a child. Food pantries alone can never make up for the loss of SNAP and we need to come together to protect it.

Congress passed major cuts to SNAP through H.R.1 in July. Over the next 6 months, up to 17,000 Nebraskans will be losing SNAP because of new eligibility and harsher work requirements. In addition, Nebraska will have to fund up to $17M to run SNAP next year. We MUST come together to provide for people in our communities, and we MUST remind our decisionmakers that failing to fund SNAP fails our families, our children, and our communities.

Thank you for your advocacy!
