RELEASE: LB192, SNAP Income Eligibility Bill, Becomes Law

LB192 maintains SNAP access for 10,000 Nebraskans

LINCOLN, NE – Today, LB192, introduced by Senator Dan Quick, which permanently extends Nebraska’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) income eligibility limit, has officially become state law.

This bill – which has no fiscal impact to the state – will maintain our state’s current SNAP limit and allow 10,000 Nebraskans to continue to access these critical supports who otherwise would have lost them.

Nebraska Appleseed’s Economic Justice Program Director, Ken Smith, issued the following statement in response:

“This is a great day for anti-hunger work in Nebraska! As the cost of living continues to rise, LB192 makes sure that our state can continue to offer food assistance to individuals and families who need it. From Ogallala to Omaha, this bill supports Nebraskans struggling to make ends meet, and does so at no cost to the state. Thank you to Senator Dan Quick for introducing the bill, Senator John Cavanaugh for prioritizing it, and to all the senators that voted to see it become law.”
