It’s Day 78! There are only 12 days left in this year’s session.
Senators continue to debate Nebraska’s mainline budget for 2025-2027 this week, which received second-round approval yesterday.
✅LB275 (Sen. Megan Hunt) was also advanced to Final Reading last week. This bill provides more transparency, opportunities for engagement, and access to benefits for young people in foster care receiving social security benefits.
LB415 up for second round of debate TODAY
Paid sick leave helps hardworking Nebraskans and businesses and means people won’t have to choose between the paycheck they need and their family’s health.
❌LB415 (Sen. Beau Ballard) would remove paid sick leave protections from 140,000 hardworking Nebraskans. It would also eliminate important protections for workers who face retaliation from their employers for using paid sick leave. This bill is on Select File and will be up for its second round debate again this morning.

LB89 also up for second round of debate this week
Trans Nebraskans deserve access to the same school activities and facilities as other Nebraskans. Denying them this access sends a clear message that they don’t belong, and will only harm their ability to thrive in the long-term.
❌LB89 (Sen. Kathleen Kauth) is an expansion of the school bathroom and sports bill that was defeated last year and would create definitions of “male” and “female” that K-12 schools, postsecondary institutions, and ALL state agencies would be required to follow. This bill won’t protect anyone. LB89 is on Select File and will be up for its second round of debate tomorrow.
