Last week, we were extremely disappointed to see the Nebraska Legislature disregard the overwhelming will of Nebraska voters by advancing ❌ LB415 to select file (the second round of debate).
This bill removes paid sick leave protections from 140,000 hardworking Nebraskans – including people working at small businesses, seasonal and temporary agricultural workers, and workers under the age of 16. LB415 also exempts businesses with 10 or fewer employees from having to provide paid sick leave, and removes protections for workers who face retaliation for using or are wrongly denied access to paid sick leave.
Nearly 75% of Nebraskans supported paid sick leave at the ballot box last November. Voters understood that working families are the engine of our economy, and that all Nebraskans should be able to earn paid sick leave, regardless of age, sector, workforce status, or business size.
Our work is not done yet. Sign our petition to tell senators to oppose LB415.
Voters spoke loudly and clearly last November: Nebraska workers should not have to choose between their health and their paycheck. The Legislature should honor that vote.
