Workers and families have said this for years: No one should have to choose between a paycheck and their health. That’s why nearly 75% of Nebraska voters approved paid sick leave last November.
Now, lawmakers are trying to overturn our vote by exempting certain Nebraska workers from being able to earn and use paid sick leave. We need you to take action:
LB415 (Sen. Beau Ballard), which is up for continued debate this week, includes a pending amendment (❌ AM545) that would exempt several groups of workers from receiving paid sick leave – including seasonal and temporary agricultural workers, and workers under the age of 16.
Additionally, AM545 exempts businesses with 10 or fewer employees from having to provide paid sick leave. It also removes important protections for workers who face retaliation from their employers for using paid sick leave.
Contact your senator. Tell them to OPPOSE AM545 to LB415 and make sure they know this isn’t what Nebraskans voted for. We want our vote to support ALL hardworking families in our state!
