Call to action

TAKE ACTION: Oppose new taxes and drastic budget cuts in Nebraska

Last week, Governor Pillen called a special legislative session to drastically change tax policy in Nebraska. Bill introductions began last Thursday and wrapped up this morning, and public hearings began TODAY.

We are concerned about proposed legislation that would create new taxes on everyday goods and services. We are also concerned about drastic budget cuts which would significantly impact our state’s ability to serve communities throughout Nebraska.

There are two important hearings TOMORROW that you can attend in person, stream online, or submit a comment:

LB1 – Adopt the Property Tax Growth Limitation Act, the School District Property Tax Relief Act, and the Advertising Services Tax Act and change revenue and taxation provisions

  • Tuesday, July 30 at 9:30 AM in Room 1524 in front of the Revenue Committee
  • This bill includes massive tax increases on everyday services that hardworking Nebraska families need and use daily.
  • TAKE ACTION:

LB2 – Provide, change, and eliminate appropriations for operations of state government

  • Tuesday, July 30 at 9:30 AM in Room 1525 in front of the Appropriations Committee
  • This bill includes drastic, irresponsible cuts of over $80 million to DHHS’ budget that will impact sustainable funding for programs like SNAP and child care subsidies that help Nebraska families and workers make ends meet.
  • TAKE ACTION:
