A historic year for Nebraska kids & families!

Sarah Helvey

This has been a historic year for Child Welfare in Nebraska.

After over a decade of policy and legal advocacy creating transparency and demanding change, 2022 saw the passage of major child welfare reforms:

  • Ending privatized foster care case management services after a long, failed, and tumultuous experiment that harmed kids and families.
  • Strengthening the rights of youth in foster care whose Social Security benefits are being controlled by the state.
  • Expanding behavioral health services for at-risk youth and families and requiring the state to create a plan to implement Treatment Foster Care.

These changes positively affecting the lives of kids and families for years to come were possible in part because of your contributions to Appleseed and your advocacy alongside youth, families, and partners.

Continue making positive change for Nebraska kids and families.

Contribute to Appleseed’s drive to raise $80,000 this week.

Your support guarantees Appleseed’s ability to fight for justice wherever we can do the most good — in the courthouse, at the Capitol, and within the community.
