SNAP re-entry bill, LB 121, moves on to select file!

Last night, the SNAP re-entry bill, LB121, passed general file with a vote of 25-17! That’s great news and one step closer to ending this harmful and counterproductive policy. LB121, introduced by Senator Megan Hunt, eliminates Nebraska’s lifetime food assistance ban for people convicted of drug-related felonies.

We have a fight ahead of us during the next round of debate, known as select file, so here are some things you can do to help:

  1. If your senator voted YES, send a quick note of thanks! Find senator emails here.
  2. If your senator voted NO or DID NOT VOTE, send a quick note using our easy email portal encouraging them to vote yes in the next debate.

If you have been impacted by Nebraska’s harmful SNAP ban for people convicted of drug felonies, reach out and get in touch with us. Just yesterday we saw the impact personal stories can have on our elected officials. Your voice and your story have power!

Thank you for your work so far on this bill. We hope with all of our continued efforts, we will finally see this bill cross the finish line.
