Education is one of the clearest pathways out of poverty. Nebraska Appleseed has advocated for many years for increased opportunities to pursue education in the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families / Aid to Dependent Children program.
Now, we have a new opportunity to support education and training opportunities for Nebraska's low-income families. The House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee will hold a hearing on this issue on April 22. We are circulating the attached sign-on letter regarding this issue to advocates across the state. We will submit it to the committee to send it to our full delegation.
We ask that you consider two important action steps:
- Review the letter and consider signing on by clicking here. The deadline is April 20th at 12:00 noon.
- Speak with ADC clients you know that have pursued education in the past, are pursuing education now, or would like to pursue education in the future. Send their name and phone number to Kate Bolz. We will follow up with them in an effort to gather more stories and voices about this issue.
Thank you for your continued support of educational opportunity in Nebraska.
